Finca El Pino, run by Nicolas Alvarado Carcamo, covers a total area of 5 hectares of coffee producing land. The farm grows at an average altitude of 1750 meters above sea level, and produces varieties of IHCAFE 90 and Pacas.

Finca El Pino is situated in the village of Las Penitas. Las Penitas is located in the municipality of Las Vegas, Santa Barbara. Nicolas' harvesting period runs from January to June.

Coffee processing at El Pino is done through a provisional wet mill. Cherries are de-pulped every afternoon after careful picking, then parchment is put into a fermentation wood tank where the coffee is dry fermented for 14 hours. The parchment is then rinsed three times before being moved into a parabolic solar dryer for around 12 days. During the drying, the parchment is sorted by hand to remove defects.

Nicolas became involved with growing coffee nearly twenty years ago. Before growing coffee, he and his father would grow vegetables. Nicolas did not begin growing microlot specialty coffee until 4 years ago.
